Pair of LC2 armchairs, one of the most important design icons of the 20th century, designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand and subsequently produced by Cassina. In this elegant configuration, the armchairs combine the classic polished chrome-plated steel frame with sophisticated black leather upholstery, effectively expressing the perfect balance between geometric rigor, comfort, and innovation.
Conceived as genuine "domestic equipment," the LC2 revolutionized the traditional concept of seating: the load-bearing steel structure, deliberately left exposed, encloses soft upholstered cushions, creating a dialogue between structural essentiality and maximum comfort. This constructive principle, inspired by Rationalism, has made the LC2 one of the most recognizable symbols of the Modern Movement and an essential reference in the history of international design.
The lot, consisting of two original Cassina armchairs, is in excellent overall condition. The chrome-plated steel frames are perfectly solid and retain their original brilliance thanks to recent cleaning and polishing. The cushions maintain compact and comfortable padding, while the elastic straps are still taut. The original black leather upholstery is in excellent condition, with minor signs of use compatible with its age; it has also been cleaned, sanitized, and treated with professional products to preserve its softness and finish. The originality of both armchairs is guaranteed by the Cassina identification code stamped on the frame.
