An authentic luminous sculpture, the Gherpe lamp is one of the most fascinating manifestos of Italian Radical Design. Designed in 1967 by the Superstudio group, it represents a break from traditional canons, transforming light into an interactive experience and form into free expression.
Born in the creative ferment of 1960s Florence, Gherpe perfectly embodies the experimental spirit of the radical movement.
Its structure is composed of Perspex (methacrylate) elements arranged like shells or petals, evoking organic forms inspired by the natural world. The central pivot allows the modules to be oriented and overlapped, making it possible to modify both the aesthetic configuration and the diffusion of light.
The result is a dynamic and transformable object, which goes beyond the traditional function of a lamp to become a scenic and conceptual element.
The lamp is in excellent condition:
The Gherpe is not just a lamp, but a symbolic object representing one of the most innovative periods of Italian design. A collector's item capable of combining research, experimentation, and strong visual impact.
