We present at auction the iconic Haller sideboard, designed in 1963 by Fritz Haller and Paul Schärer for USM. Considered one of the most influential modular systems in contemporary design, the USM Haller collection represents the perfect synthesis of Swiss engineering, functionality, and aesthetic rigor. In this configuration, the sideboard stands out for its elegant anthracite grey finish, capable of fitting naturally into both domestic and professional environments.

At the heart of the project is the innovative modular system developed by Fritz Haller, based on the famous chromed spherical joint, a patented element that connects the steel tubes and allows for infinite configuration possibilities. This solution, as simple as it is revolutionary, transformed the concept of modular furniture, creating a flexible, expandable system designed to last over time. Thanks to its constructive precision and absolute clean lines, the Haller collection has become part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), establishing itself as one of the great icons of international design.

Conditions

The sideboard is in excellent overall condition. The tubular steel frame and the characteristic chromed spherical joints are perfectly solid and retain their original brilliance thanks to a recent cleaning and polishing. The anthracite grey painted steel panels are well preserved and show only slight signs of use consistent with their age. The three drop-down doors open and close smoothly, ensuring the full functionality of the cabinet.
