Wassily Chair (Model B3), designed in 1925 by Marcel Breuer and produced by Knoll International. Considered one of the most important icons of 20th-century design, the Wassily revolutionized the concept of seating by introducing the use of tubular steel in home furnishings for the first time. In this elegant configuration, it combines the classic chrome-plated steel frame with sophisticated black leather upholstery, expressing the principles of the Bauhaus with extraordinary effectiveness: essentiality, functionality, and innovation.
Inspired by the frame of an Adler bicycle, Marcel Breuer conceived a structure composed of bent tubular steel supporting taut leather straps, eliminating all superfluous elements and giving the chair surprising visual lightness. The result is a perfect balance between technique and form, destined to become one of the absolute symbols of the Modern Movement. The name "Wassily" was later attributed in homage to the painter Wassily Kandinsky, who particularly appreciated this revolutionary design.
The chair is in excellent overall condition. The chrome-plated steel frame is perfectly solid and retains its original brilliance thanks to recent cleaning and polishing, with slight signs of use consistent with its age. The black leather upholstery has been cleaned, sanitized, and treated with professional products to preserve its softness and finish, showing only natural traces of time. Its authenticity is guaranteed by the Knoll International mark present on the frame.
