"Scantonata" Sideboard – Designed by Silvio Coppola for Bernini

We present at auction the famous "Scantonata" sideboard, designed by Silvio Coppola for Bernini in the 1960s. Considered one of the Milanese designer's most representative projects, this sideboard perfectly embodies the fusion of formal research, woodworking excellence, and functionality, distinguished by its essential geometric language and extraordinary craftsmanship.

The distinctive element of the design is the characteristic "scantonata" (chamfered) workmanship of the edges and fronts, which breaks the rigidity of the traditional volume through elegant diagonal cuts, giving the furniture a sculptural presence and surprising visual lightness. Made of precious walnut wood, the sideboard highlights the continuity of the grain and the perfection of the craftsmanship, while the integrated handles contribute to maintaining clean lines. The internal organization is designed with the usual functional attention that characterizes all Bernini production.

Condition

The sideboard is in excellent overall condition. The structure is perfectly solid and stable, with smooth and fully functional opening mechanisms. The walnut wood has been carefully cleaned and treated with professional products to preserve its original patina and enhance its color depth. There are only minor signs of use compatible with its age. Originality is guaranteed by the Bernini label applied inside one of the drawers.
